Eppalock PS Pushcart students win CSIRO CREST Award
Eppalock Primary School's Pushcart team have been awarded a coveted CSIRO Blue CREST Award! The Award recognises the fantastic way the students collaborated with Sam, a graduate engineer at THALES in Bendigo throughout their 2018 campaign. CREST stands for Creativity in Research, Engineering, Science and Technology.

Our Energy Breakthrough Mentor Program - set to re-launch in Term 3 this year - promises to offer up to 20 interested schools that support. Countdown to National Ride2School Day – Friday 22 March 2019
The countdown is on to National Ride2School Day - Friday 22 March - where Energy Breakthrough schools and students can join more than 350,000 students across the nation who will ride, walk, scoot and skate to school.
Volunteer Engagement Surveys open for input
The Central Goldfields Shire Council (CGSC) are currently developing a sustainability plan to ensure the ongoing success of the Energy Breakthrough event in Maryborough. The Council have commissioned consultants ARC Ventures to undertake research to help develop this plan. ARC Ventures have launched an open invitation for volunteers and local residents to have their say on the Energy Breakthrough event in Maryborough through two surveys: one for volunteers and another for residents of Maryborough and district.
2019 School Handbooks: Ready for download
The 2019 Energy Breakthrough Schools Handbooks are now available to download! The different Handbooks offer key information for each of the categories: Innovations In Technology, Pushcarts, Human Powered Vehicles, TRYathlon and Energy Efficient Vehicles.
Curriculum Resource Round-Up and Webinar
Calling all teachers: do you have curriculum resources that you use to support student's learning through the Energy Breakthrough? Yes! Great! We'd love to hear about what you use and how you use it with the hope that we can share these curriculum resources and ideas across all of the 155 schools that participate in the EB program each year. It's all part of our "Curriculum Resource Round-Up" being led by program partner, the Country Education Partnership, which will feature a Webinar on Thursday 9 May 2019.

2019 HPV, EEV and TRYathlon Specifications Released
New year, new rules! After publishing a set of draft rule changes under consideration last year, our Lead Scrutineers Michael McTigue and Tim White have gathered feedback, deliberated, discussed and now finalised the 2019 Energy Breakthrough Vehicle Specifications and Trial Regulations for HPV, EEV and TRYathlon teams.
Past Energy Breakthrough participants Jason Lea and Chris Hamilton win 2019 Tour Down Under jerseys
Past Energy Breakthrough participants Jason Lea and Chris Hamilton have won two of the four prize jerseys at the Santos 2019 Tour Down Under. Jason claimed the King of the Mountains jersey and Chris claiming the Best Young Rider jersey. We congratulate the two Bendigo boys who rode amazingly strong and smart races with great support from their teams.

Co-ordinating partners, the Central Goldfields Shire Council (CGSC) and the Country Education Partnership (CEP), have confirmed the event will roll back into Maryborough from Wednesday 20 November to Sunday 24 November 2019. Get those dates in your diary!
Weeroona College Bendigo on the rebound
At Weeroona College Bendigo, the Energy Breakthrough is much more than an innovative four-day event, it is a chance to reinforce already strong community ties. The school's program - which began way back in 1999 - had gone through something of a 'dip' in recent years, but it's now bouncing back thanks to a fresh approach which looks beyond the 'Breakthrough.
KidzFlip : 2018 Volunteers aiming to become Participants in 2019
If you walked by Corner Eight of track one at the Energy Breakthrough this year, you would have come across a policeman and a group of young adults, marshalling the infamous 'crash corner'. These young adults were there day-and-night-and-day for this year’s Breakthrough, and the reason why is pretty special: part community service, part reconnaissance as KidzFlip prepares for a tilt at the Energy Breakthrough in 2019.

For a new school to be participating in the Energy Breakthrough, it can be a pretty daunting experience. But not for newcomers Pearcedale Primary School from the Mornington Peninsula, who are attended their first Energy Breakthrough in 2018.
