Nominate your school to share your EB journey with us this year
This year, we are seeking out four or more schools to share their Energy Breakthrough journey with us and the broader EB community. Through a series of progress reports published at the end of each term, we’ll be able to find out what the students and teachers have been up to, what’s gone well, what’s not gone so well and what they’re looking forward to in the term ahead.

2021 Energy Breakthrough Festival Cancelled
The Energy Breakthrough Management Group made the decision Monday (02/08/2021) to cancel the 2021 Maryborough Energy Breakthrough Festival, due to the ongoing health risks of COVID-19 and their impact on public events. The event was due to be held from the 17th to 21st November 2021.
2021 Event Entries Opening and Event Update
This year marks the 30th celebration of the Energy Breakthrough Festival in Maryborough! We are excited to make the event a special one and, as you will all be aware, a safe one given the current climate. At present, our planning revolves around holding an event that maximises learning, participation and competition within a COVIDsafe framework. At this stage in the year, as schools register for events and begin their Energy Breakthrough programs, please note the following advice

COVID-19 Update for Schools
Welcome to Term 3. Generally, at this time of the year, schools would be increasing their involvement within the Energy Breakthrough, all in preparation for the annual Energy Breakthrough Festival held in Maryborough in November.
Energy Breakthrough to return bigger and better in 2021
The 2020 Energy Breakthrough event, due to be held in Maryborough from 18 to 22 November, has been canceled.

Leading a team through the Energy Breakthrough can be richly rewarding and demanding – so it can be wonderful to have support from outside of your school to help give advice and extra input. Our Energy Breakthrough Mentor Program promises to offer up to 20 interested schools that support. Team Managers should complete an Expression of Interest form today!
2020 Entries are opening at 8AM today!
Amid the 2020 global COVID-19 pandemic, the 2020 Energy Breakthrough entries will open as planned, starting at 8AM this morning (Tuesday).
2020 Handbooks released!
The 2020 Energy Breakthrough Schools Handbooks are now available to download! The different Handbooks offer key information for each of the categories: Innovations In Technology, Pushcarts, Human Powered Vehicles, Tryathlon and Energy Efficient Vehicles.

Survey Time
As part of our post-event evaluation process, we the Energy Breakthrough has not ONE but TWO surveys open right now to capture people's feedback, assess how the year went and help plan for the future. One survey is designed to capture general event and program feedback, whilst the second survey is designed for our volunteers.
Records broken and a 54 second gap in the 24 Hour Secondary Trial
It was an electrifying finish between our two 24-hour trial winners, St Margaret’s and Berwick Grammar’s Jupiter and Caulfield Grammar School’s The Big Cheese in the final minutes of the 2019 Energy Breakthrough. By the time the checkered flag came down, 54 seconds was all that separated the record-breaking teams.
2019 Energy Breakthrough – a test of endurance, innovation and challenging weather!
This year’s Energy Breakthrough wasn’t just a test of endurance and innovation, with the thousands of students, teachers, event organisers and volunteers being tested by the horrific weather conditions on Thursday. But from Friday we enjoyed near-perfect weather conditions and enjoyed a smooth and successful 29th edition of the Energy Breakthrough!

Well, it was a day of wild weather in Marybrough on Thursday 21 November 2019 - but the teams that were able to make it to Maryborough battled through the wind and heat in good spirits. Thanks to everyone from the students, teachers, support staff, judges, volunteer crews, camping coordinators and medical and emergency services for pulling together to safely get through the day.
