About Nigel Preston

Nigel Preston is a self-confessed 'HPV Tragic'. After 'catching the bug' from his older brother, he helped launch the Energy Breakthrough program at Eaglehawk SC with his dad and some mates way back in 1998. Having participated in the EB for four years he finished his VCE in 2001 and volunteering to help with the event management straight away. He's been helping out ever since. Nigel has also been a part of teams that have taken line honours at the EB in 2000 & 2001 (Bendigo Senior SC); the Australian International Pedal Prix 2003, 2004 & 2009 (Bendigo Youth Racing); and the Wonthaggi Human Powered Grand Prix in 2019.

Girton Grammar students take on the Shell Eco-Marathon in Singapore

Whilst our teams this week in Australia have been racing to get their entries in as quickly as possible, the Girton Racing Team from Bendigo is in Singapore taking on a very different type of challenge. They're in Singapore for the Shell Eco-Marathon (Asia) and are aiming to cover 900km their vehicle with just one litre of petrol.

Inside Woodleigh School’s success at the RACV EB

Not many schools achieve back-to-back success in Human Powered Vehicle (HPV) events. So, we caught up with their Team Manager and RACV EB Alumni Jono Keane to find out more about their approach. Whilst they were pipped for line honours by Energy Efficient Vehicles on both occasions - first by Rode RAGE (2015) and then by Ormeau State High School (2016) - there was still plenty for the Woodleigh team to be proud of as we discovered...

Meet Sam and Chris – the winners of our Survey competition

Earlier this year, we opened a survey calling for past participants, teachers and team managers to share their Energy Breakthrough experience with us via a survey.
