The first Casey Cycling Festival was held over the weekend in Berwick.
A total of 34 teams lined up in the event with 19 Secondary/Community teams and 15 Primary teams
taking part with organisers hailing the event a great success.
Some Fast Facts from the weekend:
- Total distance covered was a cumulative 2,751 kms.
- Average distance covered by Secondary Vehicles was 110.5 km per vehicle,
at an average speed of 22 km/hr.
- Average distance covered by the Primary vehicles was 60.4 kms , at an
average speed over 17 km/hr.
- If the 20 sec penalty per lap for the primary schools is accurate, the top 2 primary schools would
have been competitive with Black Betty(The Dads from Wheelers Hill).
(If we assumed each pit stop cost 20 seconds onto the lap time then the
real average speed for the primary schools was 19.4 km/hr)
All of the results were collected by RaceTime Computing – the timing team also responsible for
clocking every lap at Wonthaggi, Maroondah and Maryborough’s HPV events.
