ResourceSmart Schools program is here to help EB teams reduce their waste (for free!)

At Energy Breakthrough we have a focus on reducing event waste and have made great progress over the last two years.

In 2024,  we are excited to have ResourceSmart Schools (RSS) program here to help us and our schools continue to improve.

Each school that registers (for FREE) to this award winning program before 28 June 2024 will receive one-on-one support from a waste education specialist to ensure their team is prepared and raring to go for the event.

We know you’re already going above and beyond in preparing your team for Energy Breakthrough. So let the ResourceSmart Schools team handle the waste education for you! This means less work for you and more fun for the team.

With the support of your RSS education specialists:

  • your team will take part in online, personalised incursions,
  • receive event planning resources,  and
  • event support ahead of EB 2024.

Once registered, you will be put in contact with your school’s RSS facilitator. Let them know you are part of the EB program, and let the fun begin!

If you have any questions, please email Debbie Rovere. (Debbie.Rovere@sustainability.vic.gov.au)

About Sustainability Victoria’s ResourceSmart Schools (RSS) program

ResourceSmart Schools is an award-winning Victorian Government program that assists schools to embed sustainability in everything they do.

The program is open to all Victorian schools, regardless of whether they are in the Government, Independent, Catholic or Specialist sectors.

The ResourceSmart Schools program provides practical support to schools to reduce resource use, make cost savings, integrate sustainability into the curriculum and share learnings beyond the school gate.

Since 2008, more than 1,600 schools have participated in the program. Together, they have:

  • saved more than $60 million on bills
  • planted 5.2 million trees
  • saved more than 74,000 tonnes CO2e greenhouse gas emissions
  • diverted 168,000 cubic metres of waste from landfill
