Monday 5th February

Schools Handbook Released

  • This document will include all of the details about assessments, categories, classes, draft event schedules, judging and general program information.

HPV and EEV Vehicle Specifications Released

  • This document will include all of the technical and safety specifications for schools to prepare their entries for the HPV and EEV categories.

HPV and EEV Trial Regulations Released

  • This document will include all of the details about how the on track ‘Trials’ are to be conducted.

Junkyard Challenge Specifications Released

  • These categories are targeted at Primary School students with a focus on exploring STEM in new ways. These documents will cover what is required for schools to participate.

  • Entries open for all categories

Start of Term 2:

  • Entries reviewed, accepted and invoices sent out to schools where entries have been accepted.

Term 2

  • Entries reviewed, accepted and invoices sent out to schools where entries have been accepted.
  • Test N Tune Day (date and location tba)
  • Discussion and workshop with TRYathlon teams as to the make-up of the TRYathlon schedule and activities. (date and location tba)

Term 3:

  • Volunteer recruitment begins via MyEB portal.
  • Pit Requests and Camping Forms open via MyEB portal.
  • Student and Team Member forms open for submission via MyEB portal.


Friday 20 September – Last Day of Term 3

  • Entries close for all Categories.

Term 4:

  • Test N Tune Day (date and location tba)

Friday 11 October

  • Pit Requests and Camping Forms close.

Monday 18 November – at 5pm

  •  Student and Team Member forms close for submission via MyEB portal.

Recap: 2024 Energy Breakthrough entry fees

  • Human Powered Vehicles (Primary): $770.00 per entry.
  • Human Powered Vehicles (Secondary): $770.00 per entry.
  • Human Powered Vehicles (Tryathlon): $770.00 per entry.
  • Energy Efficient Vehicles (EEVs): $700.00 per entry.
  • Pushcarts: $400.00 per entry.
  • Junkyard Challenge: $80.00 per entry.
  • Robotics: $80.00 per entry.

All prices include GST.

The entry fee for our Human Powered Vehicle (HPV) categories (Primary, Secondary and TRYathlon) in 2024 will be the equivalent of $96.25 per student for a team of eight.

The entry fee for our Energy Efficient Vehicles (EEV) category is not forecast to increase for 2024 and 2025. This is designed to encourage participation in this category and to recognise that Electric Vehicles and Pedal-Electric Hybrid Vehicles are more expensive to build and operate.

The entry fee for the Junkyard Challenge and Robotics categories in 2024 and 2025 will be the equivalent of $20 per student for a team of four.
