Calling all teachers: do you have curriculum resources that you use to support student’s learning through the Energy Breakthrough? Yes! Great! We’d love to hear about what you use and how you use it with the hope that we can share these curriculum resources and ideas across all of the 155 schools that participate in the EB program each year.
It’s all part of our “Curriculum Resource Round-Up” being led by program partner, the Country Education Partnership, which will feature a Webinar on Thursday 9 May 2019.
Focus Areas:
The areas these curriculum resources may cover include (and may even go beyond) focusing on the three main areas of Assessment that are involved in the Energy Breakthrough project:
1. Display & Presentation
The journey of the team – sponsorship, fundraising, public speaking, visual design, etc.
2. Design & Construction (STEAM – Science, Technology, Engineering, Maths)
The development of the vehicle – worksheets to help enable the evaluation of previous vehicles to identify what worked and what didn’t, aerodynamics, material use, composite guides, etc.
3. Trial
Preparing for the physical challenge – fitness training, racing lines, teamwork, maths around lap timing, menu preparation, hydration, testing and preparation guides, etc.
Year Levels:
We feel there are probably three distinct groups that these curriculum resources may be targeted towards:
- Upper Primary (Grades 5-6)
- Junior / Middle Secondary (Years 7 – 10)
- Senior Secondary (Years 11 – 12)
How can you submit Resources?
Send your resources to the Country Education Partnership’s Energy Breakthrough Education Officer, Nigel Preston, via nigelp@eb.org.au or call 0412 692 468 to discuss.
The Country Education Partnership’s Kate Roache will also be contacting selected teachers and team managers directly via email and phone to discuss what they are currently implementing.
