It’s all systems go for Ryan Sykes and the crew at Bridge Builders Community and Youth Organisation – the team charged with managing the EIEP Maroondah Grand Prix.
“The interest in the event is just booming!” said an enthusiastic Ryan Sykes recently, “We’re now turning away schools because we’re FULL!” The maximum quota of vehicles allowed on the current circuit is 50, and every space on the entry list is occupied.
The management of scrutineering and the 6 hr race will remain in the capable hands of Ewen Cole (who also runs the Wonthaggi HPV Grand Prix). It’s in the on-site enjoyment factor where the Bridge Builders are really coming into play. There is a real carnival atmosphere being planned, with bands and stalls on the Saturday evening and throughout the Sunday. If you’re keen for a great weekend of racing and entertainment – the METEC Driving Training Centre in Kilsyth will be the place to be!
This is an entry level event with a track that is appealing to beginners and is also open to community teams. It offers new participants HPV race experience in a relaxed atmosphere whilst allowing other teams to tune and test their vehicles for the RACV Energy Breakthrough. Despite this approach, the competition is still tight and captivating throughout the many categories.
